Stamping Sisters

A while back, my sister came to visit for the weekend and we spent the whole time stamping. It was fun to share supplies and try some tools and stamps that I don't own. We got her Christmas cards made and had some fun with some other projects. Here are some of our creations:

I love the idea of sponging a second color onto the medallion stamp. Such a pretty effect.

Just playing around with embossing plates and the Big Shot.

We cased this great card (I'm sorry I have forgotten the link to the original) .

Love this Cottage Wall designed paper!

Playing around with my sister's Circle Circus stamp set. I may have to buy this one.

This last card I made more recently after I read on a blog about using the Medallion stamp on printed paper instead of plain cardstock. Cool idea!

Mojo Monday Week 109 - A New Take on Dasher

I loved the Mojo Monday sketch this week - simple and very versatile.

I took a new take on Dasher by stamping him in silver and using clear embossing powder. The results were very pretty.

Supplies:
Dasher stamp set - SU
Very Vanilla cardstock - SU
Patterned paper from my stash
Silver cord from my stash
Silver shimmer paper from Creative Memories

I also finished a few more cards using the Party Hearty stamp set:

Supplies:
Party Hearty stamp set - SU
Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Whisper White cardstock
Coordinating inks
Scallop punch,Sizzix embossing
Ribbon and twine from my stash

The last card uses Party Hearty also but in a Christmas theme. I CAS-ed this card from someone but have lost the link. I thought it was a clever idea to use the party hats as christmas trees.

Party Hearty and A Cardinal Christmas stamp sets
Creamy Caramel. Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Whisper White cardstock
Merry Moments DSP

Christmas, Christmas, and More Christmas

I have been working behind the scenes on Christmas cards but haven't posted any in a while.

First - some Christmas gift card holders. I used the great tutorial from Deanna at De Stampin' Corner. My gift cards holders are not as beautiful as her samples but I am pleased with them. They will come in handy for nieces and nephew's gifts at Christmas.

All supplies from Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted:
Old Olive, Whisper White, and Chocolate Chip cardstock
Chocolate Chip Ink, Top Note die
Rhinestones, eyelet,  and ribbon from my stash
Dasher stamp set, A Cardinal Christmas stamp set (sentiment)

All supplies from Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted:
Garden Green, Whisper White, and Real Red cardstock
Chocolate Chip Ink (around edges)
Eyelet and ribbon from my stash, Top Note die
Large snowflake and ornament from Sizzlets
Smaller snowflake is a punch from my stash

My sister, Mary Ellen, called me a week or so ago and told me about this great idea of making a paper collage out of DSP squares and then using the Top Note die cut to cut a panel for a card. So I had to play around with this idea. Sorry but I don't know who to credit with the original idea.

All supplies from Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted:
Merry Moments DSP, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Real Red, and Very Vanilla cardstock
Chocolate Chip Ink, Ribbon from my stash, Top Note die
Larger snowflake from Sizzlet, smaller from punch
Sentiment from A Cardinal Christmas stampset

Then I thought this would also be a good idea for all those long, skinny scraps that I seem to end up with (but can't bring myself to throw out). So I made a collage with strips placed on the diagonal and used the Top Note die cut again.

All supplies from Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted:
Scraps of various colors of cardstock and Merry Moments DSP
Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Very Vanilla cardstock, Chocolate Chip Ink
Ribbon from my stash, Top Note die
Sentiment from A Cardinal Christmas stamp set

I also made one with Dasher.

All supplies from Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted:
Scraps of various card stock and Merry Moments DSP
Very Vanilla, Real Red and Chocolate Chip cardstock
Chocolate Chip Ink, Dasher stamp set, Top Note die
Sentiment from A Cardinal Christmas

Next was the Mojo Monday Week 106 sketch. I am not very happy with how it turned out. I definitely need some practice with inking around the edges of things. I think mine looks pretty messy. So I didn't post it to the Mojo Monday site.

All supplies from Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted:
Merry Moments DSP, Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla cardstock
Chocolate Chip Ink, A Wish for Peace stamp set
Ribbon from my stash

One more - then I am all caught up. For this card, I copied Ann Schach's card with a few simplifications. I am very happy with this one.

All supplies from Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted:
Old Olive, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla cardstock
Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive Ink
Dasher stamp set, sentiment from A Cardinal Christmas
Border punch from my stash

That's all for now. I just got the Party Hearty stamp set and my next project is some birthday cards.

Mojo Monday Week 104

Here is the sketch for this week's Mojo Monday challenge:

Here is my take on the sketch. I am getting close to having my Christmas cards done as I make several of each design.

Supplies:
Stamps - Dasher and A Cardinal Christmas from Stampin Up!
Paper - Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Very Vanilla and Garden Green cardstock, Merry Moments DSP - all from Stampin up!
Eyelets - from my stash

Pals Paper Arts Challenge - K.I.S.S.

This week's challenge at PPA is to Keep It Simple, Sweetie (K.I.S.S.). The following are suggested guidelines for creating a KISS card:
  • Clean with lots of 'white' space
  • Simple Designs
  • Minimum time to create
  • Limited layers and embellishments
Below are two cards (variations on the same theme) that I created for the challenge.  Does anyone have any tips on how to effectively attach rhinestones? I used a small glue dot but it was a little too big and mooshed out the sides a little. Regular glue didn't hold them at all.

Supplies:
Very Vanilla cardstock and Merry Moments DSP from Stampin Up!
Sentiment is from Stampin Up's "A Cardinal Christmas" stamp set, stamped in Real Red ink.
Ribbon and rhinestones are from my stash.
Sizzix Sizzlits for the tree and holly leaves in Garden Green cardstock.

Also, I totally copied Kris Kilcoyne's "Dasher" card with a couple of slight modifications. I love this stamp. It is simple and elegant.

Supplies:
Very Vanilla cardstock, Dasher stamp, sentiment, Chocolate Chip and Real Red ink from Stampin Up!
Rhinestone and twill ribbon from my stash.

My First Cards

My sister, Mary Ellen, recently got me interested in her business as a Stampin Up! demonstrator. I purchased my first stamps and made the following cards. As you can see I am focused on Christmas cards for the time being.

This card was made with the "A Cardinal Christmas" stamp set by Stampin Up! It uses Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and Ruby Red colors of card stock and ink. It also uses the Top Note die (Stampin Up!).

This card was made with the "A Wish for Peace" stamp set by Stampin Up! It also uses Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and Ruby Red card stock and ink.

This last card uses a clear stamp set - Warm Holiday Wishes by Inkadinkado. The card stock and ink are by Stampin Up! - Whisper White, Ruby Red, Old Olive. The snowflake punch was from my stash of punches.

I am looking forward to getting some new Stampin Up! supplies tomorrow via UPS. Then I will have more colors to play with!
